The Christine Tassan Trio invites you on a journey to the heart of gypsy jazz! Christine Tassan, an experienced guitarist, has been evolving in the world of gypsy jazz for over 15 years. One of the few female solo guitarists in this style, she made herself known through her group, Christine Tassan and Les Imposteures, carrying out tours in Quebec, Canada and Europe.
In 2014, she decided to create a new instrumental trio, inviting her to join Olivier Babaz, creative double bassist and sought-after accompanist and Lise-Anne Ross, outstanding rhythm guitarist. Gathered around gypsy jazz, the trio pushes the boundaries of style by integrating multiple influences (Latin, blues, world music) and by fully exploiting the instruments, including in an unusual way. Largely made up of compositions by Christine Tassan, the repertory also highlights some standards of gypsy jazz and songs interpreted here in an instrumental way, all punctuated with anecdotes allowing an audience of all ages to discover this festive style and dynamic.
One of the few women solo gypsy jazz guitarists, Christine Tassan is also recognized for the versatility of her playing: swing, jazz, Argentine tango, folk song, Latin or pop, she stands out with a unique touch, whatever the style. Also a singer, composer, author, director and producer, she takes part in numerous musical projects in Montreal, Quebec and on the international scene, both as a leader and as an accompanist.
